Dave’s interest in music was noticed at a very early age. His taste as a teenager was broad, before becoming dominated by the rave movement that was sweeping the UK. At 17, Dave bought his first set of Technics 1210′s from a friend and spent hours learning the art of mixing vinyl. Once all the skills were mastered, Dave began playing out in his home city of Cambridge, accepting gigs at bars, friends parties and larger venues. Simultaneously, record shopping became an obsession and every week more tracks were added to Dave’s collection of House, ‘Old Skool’, Funky and Latin music. DJ gigs then ensued all over the country with House music being the main style played.
At 25, Dave enrolled in music school in Cambridge where he learnt a multitude of studio and production techniques. Catching on early to the opportunities afforded to both DJ and Producer by Ableton Live, Dave became a master of this awesome software, which is now the centerpiece of his studio production.
When Dave was 32 he left England and his beloved residency at late night venue The Fountain in Cambridge and moved to Estonia where he began work on some music software projects. Beginning to mix with Estonian DJs and clubbers, Dave played at parties at Angel, Hollywood, Butterfly Lounge, Varblane and Prive in Tallinn and Tige Tikker, Atlantis, Maailm, Illusion and Plink Plonk in Tartu. Dave proved his versatility by playing Dirty South Hip Hop at a number of parties in 2010 and 2011 at Balou nightclub Tallinn. In the same years Dave played on some huge boat parties on the ferry between Tallinn and Stockholm. A live show with his vocalist Stella Shaumyan took place in August 2010 at Hollywood.
During 2010, Dave began to focus more on creating his own music, rather than purely playing other peoples. This focus came to fruition, with the release of Dave’s first ‘official’ House tune at the end of summer 2010 – Interstellar (featuring vocals from Tallinn singer Stella Shaumyan). Collaboration with Tallinn artist Richard Shaumyan, in the form of R1D1, takes Dave’s production style on a journey through a fusion of House and Dubstep. He is also half of the ‘Monks of Minimal’ production duo, with Chris Thompson. In 2012 Dave was signed to two House labels, Rebeat and Sheeva. Dave’s releases so far include Snowfall, Bluebook Place and Joey Negro sampling Electric Sheep.
In 2013 Dave usually plays out with a Mac and Ableton Live, a setup with which he is renowned for his technical ability, though sometimes he can’t resist the lure of playing on the Technics 1210’s. In a Dave Chambers set these days, you’ll witness his expert ability to read a crowd, beautiful harmonic mixing, live vocals and hear a seamless mix of House and Electro. You’ll also hear tracks by favorites such as Reflekt, Calvin Harris, Fred Falke, Lifelike, Michael Gray, Daft Punk, Kris Menace, Cut Copy, Danism, Moto Blanco, Axwell, Adam K & Soha, John Dahlback, Eric Prydz (aka Pryda), Stonebridge, Freemasons, EDX, Shapeshifters, Seamus Haji, Director’s Cut, Warren Clarke, Deadmau5 and Mylo.
